Design concept is based on the idea of ‘the classical elements of architecture juxtaposed with the oriental motifs of Islamic art.’
Villa Chambesy is located in Geneva's Chambesy region, spanning 900 m² and featuring three floors. Through the design process, the main intention was to create a French-style interior blended with Islamic motifs and art. Therefore, the entire house is adorned with French boiserie panels and accented with Islamic patterns or motifs. Boiserie, a signature element of classical architecture, becomes a canvas for refined luxury, adding depth and a sense of heritage to the interior, while embodying a standard of excellence defined by sophisticated lines.
On the other hand, Oriental design graphic elements inspired by Islamic art are used in unconventional ways. The motifs are derived from ‘çini’ patterns, ‘clove’ shapes, and floral forms, are redesigned with a different graphical point of view. This theme is especially dominant in ceiling designs. Wall motifs, meanwhile, also serve as a significant design element. Bedheads and wall boiserie cornices are enriched with redesigned, bold floral motifs.
Re-designed motifs and patterns reveal a distinct design language that modernizes the past through abstracted graphic design and materials.
