The Akaretler House Project is located within the Akaretler Row Houses, which is a very characteristic neighborhood of İstanbul. The Row Houses were initially built in the 19th century during the reign of Sultan Abdulaziz for palace officials. These long-standing buildings stand at the very center of the city, symbolizing a quiet dialogue with the past within the urban flow. In this context, the interior design is shaped by an approach that respects the building’s historical identity and complements its existing architectural shell.

The use of dark tones, walnut wood surfaces, and rhythmic wooden beams on the ceilings creates a refined design language that harmonizes with the historical brick façade and original architectural character of Akaretler. This material palette not only preserves the space’s unique identity but also reinforces its historical context, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere for users.

Among the key design elements, the wooden beams on the ceilings define the character of the house. Through this rhythmic repetition, the interior design expresses a sense of warmth and architectural continuity. On the other hand, the sculptural staircase, which is positioned at the heart of the space, reflects the contemporary face of the project, with its organic form and modern expression.

At the back of the building, a hidden garden lies, invisible from the outside, offering a serene and unexpected escape from the city’s dynamic rhythm. This secret garden serves as a refuge from the busy life of the neighborhood with a tropical landscape and a long swimming pool.

The overall design approach redefines the interior identity by remaining faithful to the unique texture of Akaretler while introducing new forms and contemporary interpretations.
